Ever wonder how this day came about??? Here ya go!
There are several theories regarding the origin of April Fools' Day, and none of them are 100% definitive. However, one does stand above the rest: The Museum of Hoaxes explains that in 1564, King Charles IX of France passed a law that changed the beginning of the year from April 1 to January 1.
News of the change traveled slowly. Those who were either misinformed or slow to make the adjustments still celebrated the New Year on April 1. As a result, they were mocked and pranks were pulled.

What I found on my refrigerator this morning...
Why is this so funny, you ask...let me explain!
This is a photo of my husbands best friend. PB & ZD are in a weight loss competition against one another. Well apparently ZD has been lying to PB about how weight he's lost (oh, yeah..ZD lives 11 hrs away from us) he's been saying he hasn't lost any weight. We'll my best friend (ZD's wife) posted this picture on Facebook yesterday making fun of his tennis attire. This picture shows much more than that, it shows that ZD has lost AT LEAST 20lbs. So, I woke up this morning to this picture on my refrigerator AND in our bedroom! PB motivation is kind of creeping me out, I mean really...does it need to be posted in our bedroom??? LOL!! Guys kill me with how competitive they are! 2 more months!!

Negative Nancy
My husband called me Negative Nancy last night after reading my previous post about the Zoo. That's not how I want to be so I went to the post to delete it. But decided instead to write this post about why I was so negative.
I don't complain to my family EVER about motherhood and I rarely complain to my husband about it. I honestly have no reason to complain, but it's nice to have the option to vent if I need too.
One reason I named my blog "This is my happy hour" is because it's my place to talk to my girls and that's what you do, you vent to your girls.
As a side note, I wasn't complaining about being a mommy! I was complaining that nothing seemed to go as planned. It made me sad that my son's first trip to the Zoo wasn't full of giggles, smiles and babbling. It was still a great time, but I chose to point out the negative things at that moment.
Here's why I had an awesome time at the Zoo..
-I got to spend the entire day with my family :)
-My son saw animals he's only read about!
-My husband got to feed a bird!
-I got to break in my new flip flops!
-I didn't fall in the bathroom!
-We got to enjoy the beautiful 75 degree weather and I wore a hat so I didn't have to worry about the 30 mile an hr winds.
-I exchanged my make-up since these pictures showed me it was the wrong shade!
-My son got to go to the Zoo for the 1st time with the 2 people that love him most!
Here are some happy pics from the Zoo!

Zoo = %&$%
We've been wanting for so long to take BB to the Zoo,
weekend after weekend something came up.
WE FINALLY WENT YESTERDAY!
Didn't work.
He slept the last 10 minutes before we got there.
Bad Idea.
PB ended up taking the wagon back to the car.
We carried BB through the entire Zoo.
Something you should know about BB, he's dead weight,
He doesn't help you at all, he's just dead weight!
He also didn't care about the zoo,
We figured that anyways, he's 9 months,
but it was worse than we thought, he stared at plants and grass the entire day.
I took him in the bathroom for a change and I slipped in the 1 inch of water covering the floor.
What saved my fall was the innocent bystander I grabbed, opps & thanks!
Did I mention the beautiful 75 degree weather also had 30 mile an hr winds..I'm not kidding.
I forgot wipes.
I forgot a sippy.
I forgot my sanity.
I remembered sunscreen, but apparently forgot how to apply it.
I wore flip flops, dumb.
I forgot we're going through a slight nursing strike so feeding him didn't work as planned.
I Forgot to schedule it so BB didn't fall asleep on the way home and completely throw off his bedtime routine.
Here are few pics from our awesome trip to the Zoo, please notice how excited BB is.
This is just gross...
He won't even look at us, he's that mad!
I had PB take our photo with giraffes, since people like to compare me to them..funny, huh?
He's done.
This is what we did after BB went to bed :) it seemed to make the day appear better!
I also forgot that BBs morning nap is when I take my shower and get ready, but I missed that opportunity because I was writing this post :)

Oh, here I go again!
Just got my dad on board with breastfeeding! 1 down 500,000 to go! My family's never been against me breastfeeding but they've never really supported me. He was in disbelief when I told him all the benefits of breastfeeding, he kept saying "why don't they hang that on the doors of hospitals, WOW, I never knew any of that." I think that's how half of America feels and if I can teach one person at a time about the benefits of breastfeeding I WILL! I should rename this blog "MB's obsession with breastfeeding" since it's pretty much all I talk about :)
Like many other mother's out there I've had some issues with breastfeeding.. pain, always worrying if I'm producing enough, distractable baby, but my main on-going issue was dairy. I went dairy free (no milk, soy, cheese, honestly I could go on for hrs on what I couldn't eat) for 8 months, BB's now handling dairy much better! My sister one day asked me "why do you do that, why give that up to breastfeed?" My response, "it's the least I can do!"
When we would visit our families in STL we were out all the time so feeding BB became hard to do in private. There were a few very uncomfortable moments with my parents parked in the car. I would get in back and feed BB, my parents would stare out the window, car off, no radio, scared to look anywhere in the car in fear that they'd catch a glimpse of boob! I just hate how uncomfortable the world makes something so natural feel.

I was not graced with big beautiful boobies, I came to terms with a few yrs ago. But now that I've been breastfeeding I see pics of my boobs and I can't believe they're really mine. How am I ever going to go back to my small boobies!?!

7. How many times have you moved in your life?
7 and counting
8. Would you rather cook or clean?
Clean, I love cleaning!
Sometimes I need a time out!
As most of you know my hubby and I live in Dallas, TX while the rest of our family & friends reside in STL, MO. Since BB was born (9 months ago) we've had 3 times were both of us have been away from him and 2 of those were date nights. Luckily my mother-n-law fly's in every few months and that's when we take advantage of getting out for a little bit.
It's getting harder, I need my husband, I need that time away, I need him to look at me and see me as more than the mother of his son. I miss talking to him (we talk, but it's about BB, it's bout work, it's while we sit on the couch and we're both on the computer or watching T.V.) I love our life, I love that I have both of them to myself but sometimes I wish we could just trust someone enough with our little guy and GET OUT!
I think it's so funny how guys can just leave, "hey hun, I'm going to the gym, the library, golf lessons" or just leaving to get out. But when I leave it's this whole planned ordeal, I have to wait tell BB takes a nap so when he wakes I can feed him, then sneak out for a few hrs. My sweet hubby watched BB yesterday while I ran a few needed errands, 1 hr into these errands I received my 2nd phone call from him only to hear complete silence on the other end...
Me "hunny, hunny, hello??"
PB "Can you come home?"
Me "What's wrong?"
PB "He coughed when he was eating and I'm scared."
Me "Ok, on my way."
PB "how long until you get here?"
I admit it feels awesome to be needed so much, to have the feeling that I'm the only one that knows that little boy in and out and that no one can care for him the way I can. Buuuuut, it's nice to have a little alone time too, o'well maybe in 5 yrs after the next one is potty trained!!

Worry Free Monday!
Wow, it's already Monday!
* I'm not going to worry about my husband driving to Austin tomorrow morning for work!
* I'm also not worried about shaving again because he'll be gone all week (ok, maybe just once since it's going to be 70 tomorrow!)
* I'm not going to worry about my dad flying for the 1st time by himself since he was in his 20's, he'll be fine! I'm also not going to worry about him getting lost in the airport :)
* I'm not worried about taking the boys to the petting zoo tomorrow, lots of hand sanitizer + an awesome time!
Have a great week ahead, so happy my daddy's visiting but going to miss my hubby A LOT!

Crib cover :)
Last week my little one started pulling up on his crib and devouring the sides of the crib! I thought I was smart by buying a front crib cover that I put on when he started crawling, but never thought about the sides. I was in shock when I walked into BB's room last week to find his mouth covered in crib pant, ahhh! So, I contacted a great friend of mine and begged her (not really, but I would've if she said "no") to make some side covers for my little boogers crib. She graciously said "yes!" Shannon had her wisdom teeth pulled out this week and STILL made my covers and mailed them to me within 3 days of me asking, what an amazing friend, thanks babe! I washed them last night and here they are!

Saying "NO" breaks my heart :(
Baby bear's only 9 months old (8 months, 4 weeks to be exact) and I've decided it might be time to teach the word "NO." WELL...I can't, it breaks my heart to tell him "NO!" Lately he's been chewing on the computer cord (plugged into the wall) so, I'm practicing my new found word "NO" B.U.T he looks at me with the sweetest look you've ever seen and actually stops, it melts my heart. I hate having to say that nasty word to that sweet innocent face.."Oh, lord I'm done for, this child is going to walk all over me" and I'm ok with that, now how do we get daddy on that same wagon!?!
